How it works

From a recorded match to reviewable evidence

The first breakdown is fully automatic. No manual tagging is needed to get started.

  1. 01

    Upload the footage

Add the match recording with team and kit information so each side can be told apart.

  2. 02

    Track and identify

The system tracks visible players and ball movement, identifies teams, and builds a breakdown of the action.

  3. 03

    Review against moments

Check statistics and the draft report against the moments they were built from.

  4. 04

    Follow the evidence

Open a reference in the report and watch the recorded passages behind the observation.

The analysis

Explore the actual match workspace

Follow BKV Norrtälje vs Uppsala Kurd through recorded moments, team statistics, player profiles and the match report. This 49:35 recording covers the second half; times start at video 00:00.

Moments

Per-second observations are grouped into recorded actions, so you can go from a pass, recovery or shot straight to the footage behind it.

  • Original, annotated and closer views of each moment
  • Goals and shots get a focused review; goals shown publicly are estimates
  • Action totals are calculated from recorded actions and linked to supporting moments
Choose Recoveries, filter to BKV Norrtälje, then select a moment to watch the recorded action.

Stats

Compare the teams’ recorded shots, passes, recoveries and other actions. Select a total in the app to inspect the moments behind it.

  • Team comparisons alongside individual player contributions
  • Estimated possession, with clear and unclear coverage available
  • Totals reflect recorded actions, not an official match record
Click estimated possession to expand clear, unclear and contested coverage.

Players

Players are identified by team and readable shirt numbers. Tracking can continue without a readable number, though some uncertainty can remain.

  • Player-follow view to watch one player through a sequence
  • Involvement in recorded actions where identity allows
  • Where an identity is unclear, review the linked moments behind it
Click a player card, choose Watch this player, and follow their highlight through the moving footage.

Report

A draft tactical report covers both teams in and out of possession, transitions and set pieces, written from the recorded evidence.

  • Possession is estimated, with clear, unclear and contested coverage
  • Spatial maps appear only where tracking evidence supports them
  • Each observation can be checked against supporting moments
Click a video reference in the report to watch the supporting passage, with the analysis kept in view.

Agent Chat

Ask more of your match.

Once the analysis is ready, open Agent Chat to ask follow-up questions about teams, players and recorded actions, and inspect the supporting moments.

Technical understanding

How Pelayar reads your match

Pelayar combines player tracking with visual analysis of the action. It turns what is visible in your recording into moments, player involvement and a match report you can check against the footage.

Three separate readings of the same footage. One can be clear while another is still uncertain.

Illustration: during one passage, each reading can be clear (solid) or uncertain (hatched) at different moments.
  • Following a player

Pelayar detects visible players and connects their movement through each sequence. Team colours, appearance and readable numbers help link separate sequences to the same player. Crossings, players blocking each other, camera cuts or leaving the view can break that link, so one player may appear in several sequences and identities are sometimes mixed.

  • Reading a shirt number

A player can be followed without a readable number. Tracking references stay behind the scenes, so only shirt numbers the footage supports appear on screen. Watch this player highlights the selected player where tracking is available; a missing highlight means tracking is unavailable in that view, not that they left the pitch.

  • Understanding the action

Play-by-play examines ball movement and the visible action around it to identify passes, recoveries, shots and other moments. An action can count for a team without being linked to one player. That adds context when identity is uncertain, though it cannot always reconnect a broken player link.

Goals get a closer look

Attempts receive a closer review around the action and the goalmouth. A celebration or restart alone is not treated as proof, and a small, hidden or off-screen ball can leave the outcome unresolved. Goals remain AI estimates.

From action totals to footage

Action totals are counted from recorded moments. The report draws on those moments and links observations back to clips, so you can inspect the supporting footage.

Possession and pitch maps

Possession is estimated from observed control, with unclear or contested periods kept separate. Pitch maps need usable tracking and visible field markings, so coverage varies. Neither is an official statistic or exact measurement.

What helps your footage

A stable, elevated view, distinct kits and readable numbers help most. Small far-side players, blur, crowding, cuts and similar kits make it harder. Zoom brings the action closer but cannot add detail the recording never captured.

Your footage

What to bring, and what to expect

A full match or a selected sequence both work, as long as the recording is readable.

Works best with

  • An existing recording of a match or a chosen sequence
  • A wide, stable view with players, ball and field visible
  • Legible shirt numbers, where you want number-level attribution

Good to know

  • AI-generated analysis may miss or misattribute actions, so review cited moments
  • Possession is estimated from clear observed control
  • Spatial maps appear only where coverage supports them

Questions

Before you upload

Costs, processing time and what to expect from your recording.

How much does an analysis cost?

The credit cost depends on the length of footage you choose to analyse and the current soccer-analysis rate. You see the estimated credit cost before you confirm and start. You can adjust the selected footage before confirming. See pricing for plans and included credits.

How long does the analysis take?

There isn’t a fixed turnaround. Processing time depends on the recording’s length and resolution, the work needed to track and identify players, and available processing capacity. A full match can take longer than its running time. Once the upload has finished and analysis has started, you can leave the page and return to check progress and results.

How does the analysis work?

Pelayar detects players and the ball, links player movement through sequences, and uses team colours and readable shirt numbers to help identify players. It then examines the action, reviews possible goals and builds statistics and a match report linked to the footage. The initial breakdown is automatic; you don’t need to tag every action yourself.

Do I need a special camera?

No. Use the footage you already have. A wide, stable view where players, ball and field are visible gives the analysis the most to work with.

What can I upload, and what are the limits?

Upload an MP4/MPEG4 recording up to 10 GB. Soccer analysis supports up to 2 hours of selected footage, so you can analyse a full match, one half or a shorter passage. Use footage you have permission to upload and analyse.

What do I need to get started?

Choose Analyze soccer video, sign in and add your recording with the team and kit details. You need enough credits for the analysis and available account storage. The upload screen checks your storage before starting. The saved videos count towards your storage allowance, and you may need more space for the finished outputs.

Do players need readable shirt numbers?

Players are identified by team and readable shirt numbers. Movement can still be tracked when a number is unreadable, but the player may remain unidentified. Small or blurred numbers, similar kits and players blocking each other can cause missing or mixed identities. Only supported shirt numbers appear on the video; use Watch this player to highlight the selected player where tracking is available.

What output do I get?

You get recorded moments, original and annotated playback views, a closer view of the action, player review, action totals, estimated possession and a match report covering both teams. Select a statistic, player or report reference to inspect the supporting moments where available. These are AI estimates, so check important findings against the footage.

Can I ask questions about my match afterwards?

Yes. Once your analysis is ready, open Agent Chat from the completed match to ask about teams, players, recorded actions and statistics, and to inspect the supporting clips. Chat works on your own private analysis. The public demo is for exploring an existing result and doesn’t include it. Answers rely on the saved analysis, which can have gaps or identity mistakes, so check the clips.

Do I need an account to try the demo?

No. Watch the videos on this page or open the public match demo without an account. Explore the saved player cards, statistics, report and linked footage. Agent Chat is disabled in the public demo. Sign in when you are ready to analyse your own recording.

What happens to my original upload?

We keep a compressed source video for playback alongside the required analysis videos. The raw upload is removed only after the compressed video and analysis have been verified. If verification fails, the source is preserved. Keep your own copy if you need the original-quality recording.

Will my match be made public?

Uploading a match does not automatically publish it as a public demo. Your analysis is accessed through your signed-in account; the public demo linked here is a separately published example.

Are these official statistics?

No. Totals come from AI-detected recorded actions, and goals are estimates. Treat them as a starting point and check them against the footage.
